The first of three recordings (Tracks 12 to 14) made during a trip to the Hebridean island of South Uist, Scotland.

Here, a moss carder bee (Hebridean variant ssp. agricolae) forages through machair: low-lying, wildflower-rich habitat unique to the northwestern coastlines of Ireland and Scotland.

After battling for days through rain and wind to track down this species, I finally recorded it in the lee of a large sand dune. This was the only successful encounter I had over seven days of recording.
